The Principle of Fiber Optics
The idea behind Fiber Optics is the theory that light impulses an travel farther and more efficiently, with less data loss over the same distance as electrical signals over copper wire.

How can Fiber Optics benefit you?
If you have the ability through your employer to "telecommute"; i.e. work from your home computer and not have to show your face in the office, the time you could save with fiber optics would leave you more of the day. Think about this: Say you have a project for work, and it has very large file and program sizes, and you need to send it to your boss. If you were on a 56k modem running over copper wire, it could take hours to upload. Not with fiber optics...it would take minutes. |
